Wine or a new car?

One case (12 bottles) of Chateau Petrus 2005 futures (wine arrives in 2008): $24,000 at Morrell’s Wine in NYC (currently sold out)

2006 VW Jetta: $23,790 sticker price (available now, any color).

  1. And to think I complained that Penfolds was overpriced…

Quite ridiculous to see these sorts of prices though. I think I’ll stick with good old reasonably priced Aussie shiraz-cab.

  2. And the scary part is that Morrell’s is sold out–so they’ll probably raise the price the next time. Maybe Petrus is closing in on the Passat?!?!

  3. Unbelievable!

I would without second thought take the 2006 Vintage Jetta in a dark garnet color with a case of Penfolds in the rear.

On a side note, God Bless all those good wonderful people that can afford it!

  4. Well the Petrus will only rise in value. You can already see an evolution of 700euro/bottle in one year. http://www.90pluswines.com/pages/search/detail.aspx?vintageid=11671045A05
